Illustrative document · not a quote
Example first-build scope.
This example shows the headings and decisions a real written scope should make explicit. It does not describe a completed product, price or delivery promise.
1. Workflow and outcome
Name one repeated process, current users, trigger, inputs, intended output and review point.
2. Included
List capture fields, status steps, document formats, integrations and test examples included in this build.
3. Excluded
List professional decisions, wider company systems, additional workflows, migration and ongoing support not included.
4. Client responsibilities
Provide redacted examples, system access where agreed, a workflow owner and a real user who can test and approve.
5. Data handling
Name the storage location, authorised access, temporary retention, deletion, backup and handover arrangements.
6. Acceptance and handover
Define observable acceptance checks, client approval, delivered materials and what happens after handover.
7. Commercial terms
A real scope states the fixed quote, payment terms and realistic timeframe agreed for that specific work.
